Strategic Planning

Introduction:

Strategic planning is essentially an organisational route map, with a starting point, a destination and route for getting there.

Essentially it surrounds three questions:

  1. Where are you now?
  2. Where are you going?
  3. How are you going to get there?

Without a robust strategic plan it is likely that the organisation will drift and will not be prepared to respond to threats and fail to exploit opportunities.

Content:

  • Where is your organisation now? This involves understanding as much about your organisation as possible both internally and externally
  • How does it operate?
  • How does it compare with competitors? What is its standing within the field it operates?
  • Where do you want your organisation?
  • What is the vision, what are your key objectives?
  • How are you going to get there?
  • What are the steps you must take? The session includes the introduction of a range of planning tools
  • Engaging the team in the process
  • Establishing the resources required
  • Getting commitment from the team
  • Setting achievable goals / measuring progress
  • Ensuring your organisation is outcome focussed
  • Monitoring and reviewing your strategic plan
