Empower Sustainability Conference 2012

On Thursday 9th February 2012 at Liberty Stadium in Swansea Empower hosted our first ever Empower funded conference. With over 150 people in attendance the Sustainability themed event included live performances, expert speakers and workshops and a variety of diverse exhibitors. This was a fantastic event thanks to the Empower team and all who attended - we cant wait for the next one!

Communities First Annual Conference 10th November 2011

This years conference was held at SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff and was attended by over 75 exhibitors and 450 delegates.

LGBT Come out and play Conference 2011

A conference that brings together professionals in the fields of rights, health and well being to discuss issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people across the UK. With a mixture of key note speakers, workshops and specialist exhibitors Empower is extremely pleased to be supporting this event and sharing our expertise with delegates.

Communities First Annual Conference 14th & 15th October 2010

Venue Cymru, Llandudno: Despite fears that the majority of programme teams in the south would not travel to north Wales Empower managed to deliver a capacity crowd of 400 delegates again to this event. There were 30 exhibitors and a series of workshops spread over two days which again received very positive feedback.

Communities First Annual Conference 8th October 2009

The Liberty Stadium in Swansea in 2009 saw the first hosting of the Communities First Annual Conference by Empower Support for the Voluntary Sector. The conference enjoyed a capacity audience of 400 delegates and a new feature of a large exhibition of key organisations from all three sectors, providing delegates with the opportunity to engage directly with organisations who could support their work. The biggest exhibition of its kind; Paul Dear Head of Communities First stated that the conference had “ substantially raised the bar on delivery of these events.”

I finished the last blog with a quote and have started this one with another. The ‘title’ of this piece is a quote from the film 13th Warrior, described by Time Out in the following terms: “At its best, this achieves the beauty and grandeur of a Kurosawa epic - at its worst, however, it feels like a Python remake of The Vikings.”

Accountants in charities are important!

Accountants within charities are important ... well I would say that wouldn’t I! But realistically they have to be important. I have heard service departments of charities grumbling that “finance rules this organisation” and whilst finance shouldn’t rule they should certainly have a hand in ruling.
